The National Insurance and Guarantee Corporation (NIG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Direct Line Group and was originally incorporated 8th October 1894 to provide personal and commercial insurance throughout the UK.

NIG was part of the Churchill group of companies acquired by The Royal Bank of Scotland Group on 1st September 2003.
